Trump's "Peace Plan"

Peace is unattainable without justice. We reject President Trump’s “Deal of the Century” because it ignores decades of internationally stipulated law and serves to cement de jure segregation, apartheid and a lethal status quo where Palestinian suffering continues to be rendered invisible.

Peace in Palestine requires reckoning with a history of settler colonialism whereby Palestinians, stateless and without any means of legitimate defense, have been subjugated, dominated, and controlled by the Israeli occupying power.

President Trump’s plan erases these realities. This administration’s language attempts to present this plan as a beacon of a more prosperous future for all parties, but must be met with firm skepticism.

Palestinians were left out in the making of this “deal”, the Trump administration has repeatedly shut down the PLO in Washington D.C. and cut support of UNRWA and refugees, all pointing to the escalation of decades old US policy of unilateral and uncontested support of Israel.

As stated on numerous occasions by Israeli political leadership and as made blatantly evident by the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements on increasing amounts of Palestinian territory, the possibility of a two-state reality is obselete and fictional.

As student organizers, we aim to build a more just future, one where people of every color, creed, and country of origin can live in peace and harmony.

We reaffirm the need for justice across the board.

Justice for decades of land dispossession.

Justice for decades of forced home evictions.

Justice for decades of terrorization and ethnic cleansing.

Only justice can bring peace for all people.

If we are serious about peace, justice must be our benchmark and nothing less.
